In your own garage, without having done it before....

    A weekend at least.

    Cam only

I did cam during the winter, cuz then no rush to get it completed. Spent 3 weeks about 10 hours a week. I would say if you have the tools and some skill, it's not tough, you just want to take your time.

Doing heads and cam at same time would be smart though... if you can afford both.

You can do the work if you have the tools. Just read up on it really well so you don't miss anything. Also, it will be a lot easier if you can pull the whole engine to do it. A pain in the butt, I know, but easier for sure...

go to www.lsthowto.com and look at the write up there on the heads/cam install. That'll give you an idea of what you have to do. It's a pretty accurate write up to.

no... just the radiator... and of course the other necessary parts... headers might be a pita if you can't jack your car up high enough... so do the headers while the heads are off...

    If I had a lift...
I would pull the motor for a head install.

I agree with you there, time to start saving up for heads and cam. Sounds like a good winter project.

I have access to a lift...is there a write up or checklist on what needs to be disconnected to drop the motor out of the bottom of the car on the front frame?

You can do it this way...
    http://www.keliente.com/engine.htm

Main difference for me was that I disconnected the sensors at the motor, rather than disconnect the whole harness.
