HOLE in through oil filter housing ?!? weird!

While recently changing the oil and filter on my ls1, i noticed a hole in my oil filter housing. Anybody know what caused it and how to fix it???
I can post a picture soon, but it's basically the size of a dime and looks like its be blown through by the oil. the hole is right beside the big hole in the center where the oil leaves (enters?) the filter.

there are three holes in my oil filter housing. one is the hole in the center, where the oil filter screws on, the second is the one beside it, that is supposed to be there, and the third is on the other side of the center hole, is is very OBVIOUSLY NOT supposed to be there. it looks like a bullet was shot through it from the engine side. ** I am having computer problems but i will have a pic up today!

The oil comes through that hole. Do not fill it.
