    Hesitation

I was driving the other day and noticed that I am getting a hesitation at around 2500 rpms. At full throttle, the car runs fine...it only happens when I am driving at a normal pace. I checked the plug wires and they look fine. I have long tube headers, no cats with HP tune so that rules out the 02 sensors.

Its a 2000 SS Camaro with 44,000 miles. Any idea on what to check out next?

Start by cleaning the MAF with CRC Spray MAF Cleaner. Our car had a similar hesitation when we bought it that turned out to be a MAF issue.

Also check your PCV line for any checking by the throttle body -- a small vacuum leak can also cause issues, although it will normally affect your idle first.

Always good when it is something simple like that. Do you run a K&N or similar type air filter?

I am not familiar with that setup. If it is an oiled cotton gauze type filter, you will want to clean your MAF every so often. A film of oil can build up on the MAF sensor wire that dirt will stick to. This insulates the wire and throws off the MAF's ability to read actual airflow. Usually, this results in a lean condition and the stumble that you were experiencing.

Erie is probably a good 2-1/2 to 3 hours. We are just south of Corning, NY.

Just used crc maf cleaner and it made a huge difference on my tahoe. Idles quieter/smoother and the throttle respose is instant now. It seems to take less pedal now to normally accelerate with traffic flow. Spent $60 on plugs hoping for these results but it turns out a $7 cleaning was all that was needed. Just make sure to let the maf dry after cleaning!
