Help!-My Trunk latch is recycling.
I have a 2000 Z28 and last night the alarm went off. I reset it and this morning when I got up the trunk was open and the latch was recycling. I would shut it and in a few seconds is would open. I can't reset the alarm now. We did have a rainy windy night last night. Any suggestions?

Pull the fuse. Take your test light and check the switch.

Thank you for the reply. I've looked at the owners manual and can't figure out which fuse to pull.

Probably the same as your dome lights.

Thanks Again. The only fuse I can see that's close to dome light is marked "COURTESY Body Control Module (BCM)" on the main fuse block. Would that be it?

Well after we execute this highly technical operation....then pull the switch and take the hot wire off the switch....plug your fuseback in. If it is OK then you got a bad switch.

Hi Sarge! I won't know until I get home. I was just trying to get an idea of what to do beforehand. I'll pull the courtesy and accessory fuses and see what happens. I'll let you know.

Well, Sarge, when I got home the latch had quit recycling. I haven't tried setting the alarm yet so I just shut the hatch and manually locked it. I thought I better leave well enough alone until it dries out around here. Here's a quick question: Does the little red light on the dashboard always flash or just when the alarm is loaded? I've never really noticed it before.

Deffinetly want to iron this out.. With the BCM fuse pulled many things will no longer operate. Such as power windows, wipers, radio, and so on.. Sounds like a bad release relay to me but the switch is also possiblely bad too..

Thanks All. Well, the light is not on or blinking when the car is off. It comes on briefly when you start the car but then goes off. The hatch release is not recycling now and the car runs starts and runs OK but no light. We are just manually locking the car, not using the FOB. All fuses are back in. Any possibility that this is a weak or defective FOB?
