    I went down to my local auto shop yesterday to get some wrap. I only wanted to wrap a small section where the headers pass close to the steering rack boot to stop it becoming brittle or burnt. The shop owner said he wrapped the headers on his race car and it snapped exactly where the wrap finished.

    I suppose the difference in heat absorbed into the metal contributes to the break? So it would pay to wrap the headers in their entireity. Maybe the material the headers were made from?

    I ended up making an aluminium shield to guard the boot from heat...

    Wrap them all the way to the collector. He did it wrong and paid the price

    Yeah I reckon, it's only a little single seat race car (don't know the class) with 4>1 headers outside the body and down the outside of the rails. He shielded the area next to where he sits...
