    Grease in my Throttle Body

I Recently checked inside my throttle body and my finger came out full of grease. My car only has 22k miles on it
Is this a common thing with an LS1. How can I clean it. I've heard alot about Sea Foam.

Get a throttle body cleaner and do it right-Prestone makes a kit with fuel injector cleaner and throttle body cleaner-you swab out the gunk and rinse it out -but not w/the engine running.!follow the directions.

Not normal for grease or oil to accumulate there.Sounds like its coming from the pvc valve that bleads gases from the valve cover.just a guess.

sounds like the pcv...although it isnt too common on the 01-02 cars. just clean it and see if it comes back. it could be a few things...

You need a catch can..... http://www.accmachtech.com/pcvcatchcans.htm
Oil is blowing by and straight to your TB...you can clean it and it will be right back.....very common on LS1's..... here is mine

I get about a teaspoon of oil that was destined for my TB every 100 miles or so......

Autozone or similar should have this stuff.I don't think your gonna have excessive blowby with 22,000 miles-that motor is barely breakin in.Throttle bodies will have a black sooty build-up on them normally-may look like oil.Sarge has a heavily modified high performance motor that may have some blow-by without there being any real problems with the motor-but a stock low mileage motor should not have any such problems(IMHO).You need to clean your fuel injectors on a regular basis anyway.

IMHO-I've seen evidence that they can work.I've worked on cars and seen other cars where it made a noticeable difference in the way the engine ran. Therefore I would rather see it be used as preventative maintenance-don't wait until it's running funny-because it may not be able to reverse the clogging.Use it to keep them from getting clogged in the first place.Every other oil change run the stuff through the gas-cleaning out the throttle body doesn't need to be done that often.
