I assume that you are asking about rear end gears? If so, I have changed mine to a 3:73 ratio. My 99 Z-28 has an A-4 with 3000 Yank stall converter. Works very well.

If u have an M6 u dont need or shouldnt want gears. M6's have 3.42's and that seems like just the right gear for a mainly fast street car. Yes 4.10's would be might be better for the 1/4 mile. However, w/ 4.10's u must be able to hook= drag radials. Then, u might break the rear end so u might wanna have $2000 + saved up. To me it just doesnt seem worth it. Not to mention, Ls1 speed has a 8 second street car camaro, and it has kept it's 3.42's. So, if thAt camaro can run them, i think most of us can run them just fine, especially considering 3.73's r not that much of a difference for a M6.

Pewter Metallic (1of?)- 2001 Formula M6(1 of 225)
I switched my 3.42s out for a set of 4.10s on my M6 formula, i love the acceleration difference. If you like taking off from a roll, 2nd gear with 4.10s cruising at about 35-40 and taking off is pretty impressive, I need to get subframe connectors though, i only lost maybe 2-3mpg city and highway. If you wanna play you gotta pay.....

Get some 4:10s. No reason not to. My gas mileage didn't drop not even 1 mpg after switching from 3:42 to 4:10. If your not dragging at the track, you won't break em. You also don't have to slip the clutch anywhere near as much to get the car moving from a stop.
