Gauge Question

I found these pics of a gauge installed in a vent location does anyone know how this is installed (size of gauge, do you need gauge cup behind dash?,etc) I have a 1999 Trans Am

I believe the size for the vents is 2 5/8", and 2 1/16" if you use a guage pod.

So Im guessing the AC is disconnect for whatever vent you are using? Would think the gauges couldnt take the cold air that is coming out in the summer time ... I really really love the way the gauges look in the vent, just waiting to add a gauge for something useful instead of just reading the oil temp .. ect ..
