fuel tank roll over valve?
I was trying to put fuel in my car earlier and it simply wouldn't go in. It would fill up the filler neck and that was that. After thinking about it i slid a piece of thin etal down the filler neck and pushed open what seemed to be a door that lead into the tank. I asked a chev mech about it and was told it was one of two things the roll over valve or the fuel tank vent was clogged. Any body seen this before?

there is a check in there to keep gas from pouring out. It could also be your evap vent solenoid sticking too and keeping the tank pressurized.

It did have a code; P0440 evap emission control system. I didnt put 2 and 2 together but it makes sense now. When I pushed the door/flap open all the gas in the filler neck was blown out by the build up of pressure in the tank. I haven't had a problem since I pushed it open and releived all the pressure. Guess I'll wait and see if it was an anomaly or if the sylenoid needs replaced. Thanks for the help!

If it even happens again you can disconnect the line from the solenoid and it will vent. No tools are needed, its a squeeze type fitting.
