Fuel pump went out on my friends 3rd gen

My friends fuel pump in his 3rd gen Camaro (1988 v8 auto) went out. If I recall isn't there a access panel you can cut in the hatch area metal to gain access to the fuel tank and get to the fuel pump? Any and all information on this would be greatly appreciated especially pictures. Thanks

Drop the tank, int he time it would take you to remove the interior, mar and cut the panel, cut the panel then clean it all up, you could have the tank droped, pump replaced and back in. With out any comprimise to the car structure or safety hazards.

Don't have large enough jack...or a lift to raise the vehicle and drop the rear end to get the tank...

Goldcuffs..is that the same for a 3rd gen?

Exactly right. Do it right and drop the tank. Don't butcher the car by cutting up the floor.

You don't have to get the car that high in the air for the job. Simple jack stands will do just fine. I've done them in the past this way.

I can't tell you how many cars I passed up forsale that had the floor wacked, I was surprised at how many yougin's take this approach
