FT ram air vs. Free mod

IVe done the free ram air mod to my 00 TA and got an SLP lid. is there any benifit to getting the fast toy ram air since it is basiclly already doing the ram air with the free mod? Or should I just invest that money in some LT's?

therer is no ram air effect to the free ram air thing you did. all you did was make a small step for the ram air process. these cars breath from the bottom and with the FTRA it get the air from in front of the raditor making lots of HP for the price , you got to think of its " only 130 bucks" but its does help . some on dynos got like 10 hp but on the road its a lil mor casue the speed.. sure LT's headers will helps out more but this is also a good and cheap mod to start with

WEll I already cut out the plastic covering the radiator so I do have air coming from bellow so since it is already coming from the bottom will putting a SS sheet there do that much more?

It may help some installing the duct work to pull air in more directly, but the free mod is very effective as it is. Most of the Fbody shops around me highly suggest it. The room underneath the filter to the base is very very small and limited. Buy cutting out the bottom and pulling air in from underneath you are increasing the overall usable area, (I forget the exact numbers)
But years ago S.A.M. experimented with this on a new (at the time) 99 SS camaro and just buy cutting out the shroud and lower air box they picked up both ET and MPH times. They did a ton of stuff to this car, starting with simple cheap stuff, and this was one mod that worked and worked good. This car turned into their test bed for other things like camshafts etc....and has been or used to be their cover car for years.
Bottom line is,,,this mod does work and is effective, and it costs nothing. Spend your money on other things like headers. Cheers.
