Firebird/firehawk Engine
Hi, I'm new to the GM performance cars, and I was looking at the 1995 V8 firebird, and I was wondering what the difference between that and a firehawk was. I know the firehawk has better performance, but what is done to it to make that better performance?
Thanks a lot!

Not a whole lot realy as far as I know, mostly exhaust and intake I think, might be a bit of a better tune as well.

Well I know that the firehawk is faster 0-60, and I'd just kinda like to match those numbers when and if i get this car, I just need to learn a little bit more about cheap mods and things that will give me more power with it.

It won't take much, a better flowing cat back and intake adn gears would put you in that range pretty easily.

From what I can see the ram air hood on the hawk and usually SLP upgraded the exhaust, their were options but you'd have to look at the codes to see if anything else was optional.

No Flowmasters. Corsa, SLP, or somethin like that.

The problem with Corsa is that theyre a lot more expensive and I'm not running on a very big budget.

The Firehawk is no faster than a base TransAm no matter how you look at it really. It is an LT1 F-Body (95).
Now, if you are comparing the LS1 Firehawks against the LT1 Firehawks..yes..obviously the LS1's will probably be a little quicker.
An LT1 Trans-Am..or Firehawk..same speed
An LS1 Trans-Am..or Firehawk..same speed
The only difference between them is appearance mainly. Now I do believe..I know on the LS1 firehawks that SLP lowered the backend a small bit (done quote me on that though)

Maybe SLP Loudmouth it you don't mind the noise.
I had a 95 FireHawk and a regular Z28 LT1 both m6's. Not really much if any difference power wise.
I actually ran better in the 1/4 with a SRT4 Neon lol.
