Firebird convertible seal help??
Just put a new top on (just the vinyl, not the whole frame and assembly).. I have a leak where the windshield meets the convertible top when it is closed... This was there before i replaced the top, but thought it was due to the top being old and ragged out... I'm pretty sure my weather stripping is good but not positive. Any suggestions or ppl ever have similar experience with this problem? Advice?? It's snowing where I am now ( i live in Indiana) and just little tiny specs of snow come through that crack wen im driving, but not enough to really cause a problem.. Just dont want it to be there when it rains tho ... thanks guys ide appreciate the help

Does the top sit flush with the windshield? Your weatherstripping may have collapsed in that area. If you have collapsed weatherstripping, try GMPartsdirect for a replacement.

Check the weatherstripping to see if there are any cracks. If there are, then go for the new seal. I would recommend silicone spray, but at that mileage, the spray might not work.

Can you move the top up and down in that area when it is latched? Might need an adjustment. If not seals as said above.

I'm willing to bet the latches have an adjustment. You should be able to tighten that side up to pull the top down tighter.
It's been that way on some of the older cars I've worked on, I don't see the 4th gens any different. Just did a 61 vette like this, pain to do, but there is alot of adjustment there, takes some time to get it right.
I've never had to mess with our 4th gen verts, so I can speak definately on them.
If not it might be weatherstrip time like the others suggested. GM would be the only place I'm aware of. Hopefully it's not discontinued.Last edited by Firebirdjones; 01-13-2011 at 02:41 PM.
