    Final Answer??

I truly need a good answer about the IAT sensor offered by alot of companies that claim this device will increase HP and not cause any engine problems/side effetcs. No matter what anyone says, I feel a defference every time it is hooked up to the airbox, but I done want to damage the PCM or anything else. I talked with a guy from SLP before purchasing, and he guaranteed that the IAT sensor would not damage my 2002 WS6. Is this true??

The air temp module/timing tricker thing? Probably won't hurt anything with stock tuning and running premium fuel, but personally wouldn't bother with it.

I haven't heard of it doing any damage.

    Snake oil.

You can alter the resistance of your IAT but you are defeating your purpose.

Yes - you will get a slightly richer fuel table and the timing will of course pull back a degree or two but it figures it out very quickly and compensates.

I like my IATs to do what they were supposed to do, measure the incoming air temp so I can be on the right fuel table.

Garbage product. If anything you can relocate your IAT to your intake filter and get accurate readings of the temps going into your engine.....many IAT's are in the tube close to the radiator and away from the filter (true intake point) and give warmer readings than what are actually going into your engine. And you do run a risk of damaging your engine ....if it is 90* outside and your SLP IAT is telling your motor it is 56* and adjust for 56*...yes you can screw things up in a hurry....

Then I'm glad I'm not using one.

Sarge is correct again. I prefer to have an IAT right by the MAF but I want it working, not trying to fool the PCM by the use of 0.19 worth of resistors from Radio Shack.

If you want to gain timing there are far better places to address.

You can't hurt anything by turning the thing down to simulate lower tem puratures. The IAT file in the computer subtracts timing when the Incoming air is hotter. The most it wil ever subtract is about 5-7*----If you have it set on 55* on a 100* day ---the engine would ping--HOWVER the KNOCK RETARD system will automatically remove all the timing anyway if it senses a ping and you will be back where you started from.Really quite a useless product with an engine that has knock retard---ALSO the KR system will alwys take out more timing than it needs to--so the result actually will net you LESS timing than it would have normaly--and less power
