Fast lsxr intake
Hi. I have had a thing for the 78-84 Malibu wagon & El Camino for quite sometime. Ironically, I'm in a position to get my hands on either, in the next couple weeks. My question is this. If I were to go with an ls engine from a truck, could I avoid swapping the intake manifold, by simply using a harwood w/ a 4' cowl. I'm asking would it affect performance, is it even possible to swap to an ls without changing the truck intake manifold. I have really just learned of how tough this engine is, & I want to know exactly what I am getting into, before I go in........

Which ever you choose, swap the hood or swap the intake to make it fit. Both should work fine.

I did an LS1 swap in a 1985 El Camino, and there was plenty of room under the stock hood with the stock LS1 Intake. Even with a truck style manifold, you'll still have room.

The LS car intakes make more peak HP.
The truck manifold is tall and ugly as hell but makes more TQ.
It should fit in a muscle car no problem, the flatter car intakes needed to fit in pretty tight engine bays(Fbody/Vette)2010 Camaro SIM 2SS/RS A6
