External Voltage Regulator

I've just swapped my battery and alternator and am still only putting out 8.8 volts. Do we have external voltage regulators?

No external regulator - something else is happening. Are you sure the battery and alternator are good? Is SES on for P1637?

Need to clarify my previous post - P1637 does NOT illuminate the SES light, but is stored in the PCM - so you'll have to scan PCM to see if it's there.

No codes ... but I did find the problem. It was the wire that leads to the alternator connector. It had broken at the connector. I literally coasted into my driveway last night from work as the car died ..... lucky me!
I soldered it up and I'm back on the road.

The red exciter wire - that'll do it. Still might be a code stored, but it'll go away after several cycles now that it's fixed. Glad you're back on the road.
