    Expensive light bulb!

Well the light went out on the headlight switch, making it impossible to see at night. So I pulled out the headlight switch and found the smallest light bulb I have ever seen in my life.

Then I find out it's not available seperate,,,I have to buy the entire switch for $40 Oh well,,,,I had to buy the switch just to rob the light bulb out of it,,,,I knew there was a reason I avoided these new cars for so long,,,,lol.

LOL,,,there are many other aggravating reasons why I'm not a fan of new cars. It's a long story. Radio Shack is the second place I looked after getting stupid looks from the counter people at the local autoparts stores,,,,and I at least got service from radio shack,,,but no bulb matched this little sucker.

A good option though for those that like that stuff.

Just be lucky you dont have a 93-97 camaro. The headlight bulbs are $25. with the shitty roads here they get expensive to replace.

I have a 97 as well. You are talking about headlights themselves. Those are not so bad,,,,at least they are real headlights made of glass. I prefer that over these damn composite plastic lights the 98-02's have, kinda cheap if you ask me.

I am the type of person that likes everything to work on my cars, whether it's something I need or not. I'm not going to let something go just because it might not be necessary.

Plus my wife and son sometimes need the dome light on,,,,and I can't find the stupid switch at night to turn in on when it's not visible.

I think the cure all here would be to turn off that stupid sensor under the dash that turns the headlights on all the time. It would be much easier on bulb replacement.

^^^ very true, i replaced my drivers side lil bulb that lites up my window switches and locks at nite, that was a lil bulb as well, with my discount at the dealership where i worked it was a $10 bulb, and no bigger than your issue above.

i understand how you want it to work, i would prolly do the same thing

Go to a autoparts store next time 'cause it's not a $10 bulb

I had to replace that bulb too,,,lol. When I pulled it apart I noticed it looked just like a #194 bulb only very tiny.

I just grabbed mine from GM as well, since I was already there buying a headlight switch (just for the bulb )

We found out that those tiny window switch bulbs only come in packs of 10 for $20,,,,I couldn't see keeping 9 of them around the shop, probably get lost,,,,so he just pulled one out of the pack and gave it to me,,,,lol.

I think the lights are just on too much of the time with that stupid light sensor in the dash,,,,it's time I start looking into modifying that so I can just work the headlight switch when I see fit.

You might want to hang onto that just for the bulb,,,eventually you will need one.

o yea and dont be intimidated by the task of modifying the light sensor, just take 2 thin screw drivers and gently pry up the dash. then take the sensor out of its socket and cut the 2 wires going to it and wire nut them. piece of cake.
