    Exhaust Tips?

I want to get some new tips. The ones on right now are just ugly...and i am wondering how to go about doing this? Can i do it myself if so write ups?

I was thinking about taking an oxyactile (don't know the spelling) torch and and welding the tips to the exhaust?

Would that work or should i just go to a muffler shop? Would they be able to do it and how much roughly?

    Thanks

unless you're pretty handy with a welder I would take it somewhere. If you find a mom and pop shop they would probably weld you some tips up for $20 or so.

Where that hell did you get that? OMG!

On a serious note, only tips? Why? If you're planning on ruining the factory exhaust (or if it's already ruined), why not replace it with a catback system?

i already have lm2's but i don't like the huge single 3.5 inch coming out either side. I was thinking about getting some hookers or corsa's. Just wondering if i should just go to a muffler shop or what.

A muffler shop should hook you up. Make sure they don't do a half-ass job at it though.

    Nice looking WS6!

After seeing the pic, I see what you're saying regarding the tips.

I wasn't sure if I liked mine and finally I did a little lift and tuck and I'm finally satisfied with mine. (All pics I have are prior to.)

Maybe that's all you have to do?

Out of curiosity, do you have cops in your area? From what I've heard, the SLP LM2 is outrageously loud!

yes cops are usually all over the place i'm at college. but they just look at my car, nod and smile lol...The imports here get pulled over all the time for their stupidity

Is there a set size to what i will need for the tips? Length, Diameter? and will the tips change the sound of the exhaust?

Tips will not change the sound, most exhaust shops carry tips on hand, you could always just call around and see how much they would charge and if they carry tips on hand. If you buy the tips from them they may charge you less for the welding.

After you cut your existing tips off, you can sell them to doberman 152; that'll help pay for the new ones!

Anyone know of some large oval tips being made/sold? Something similar to the mecham style? I like mecham's, but can't find them anywhere for sale anymore..

    this is untrue.

i have a flowmaster super 40 on my z and at the time i had it installed i chose 2 inch circle tips. sounded good. about a year later i decided i like the look of no tips on a camaro(i had my tips cut off) so you couldnt see anything from the rear of my car. i noticed there was a higher pitched drone as a result. about a month later, i went back to a local exhaust shop and picked up some 3 inch circle tips, about a foot long. much more mellow sound, took away ALL of the drone.

I don't think thats true, i believe the quad tipped magnaflows have a resonator in them to alter the sound from the cannons...

Summit has them for $67 and since they are stainless, they will be the last set of tips you will ever need to buy.
