engine rpms drop very low when coming to a stop
well for the past couple weeks my cars rpms drop very low when im coming to a stop and as i get to a stop its so low that it feels like the car is going to die, and the car shakes.... does anyone know why this is? if it helps i drive an 02' z28 camaro. mods are pacesetter headers, offroad y-pipe, fre ram air mod, slp lid, k&n filter, removed screen on maf. thats about all i know... but it was running fine on those mods for many months.

well if its the coverter then why does it operate fine through the rest of the rpms? another thing is it blows smoke when i get on it, like its running rich. could it be a fuel filter, or a fuel pressure regulator, fuel pump, somthing with the fuel?

It could be a number of things, a scanner with a logger would tell you but my converter would do the shimmy unlock/lock dance at speeds under 45mph and when slowing down the car would almost die then pick back up immediately. Didnt throw a code for over two weeks. Turned out to be the TPS sensor.

Could be as simple as a dirty, gummed up, throttle body.

Clean TB, IAC, check TPS, and clean MAF. Also verify that the PCV system is hooked up right. Oh, and air filter!

few thoughts. Cleaning the maf etc. can't hurt. Your 02 sensors may be going - they don't last as long with headers. Finally, reset the PCM, start it up cold and let it run until it is warmed up without touching the gas or brake (about 10 minutes). Then shut it off and wait 15 seconds. That is the idle relearn - see how it runs after that.

turned out being the passenger side O2 sensor. it was so fouled it wouldnt een read so it was giving wrong readings to the computer... ended up fouling all 4 passenger side spark plugs. got those replaced, got my car tuned by Boost performance, now my car runs like a champ

The SES light was not on?

the ses light had been on ever since i put race headers on, because you delete the rear o2 sensors. so therefor i didnt know if i had a problem or not till i took it in.

Hopefully your tuner tuned out the rear 02s and left the front 02s so next time you have an 02 sensor problem you'll get a DTC.
