Bright Rally Red- 2000 Camaro SS #5075 M6
Engine Question
Hello, I have a 2000 Camaro SS M6. I was driving pretty fast the other day in 4th gear around 4,500 rpms, when I went to shift into 5th I accidently took 3rd. I pushed the clutch back in almost immediatley, but I know I was at least at 6,000 rpms if not higher. What is the damage that might of been caused and are there any external signs of damage that could be noticed. Thanks for your help.

Been there done that lol, Same situation if you havent noticed it running any differently and you dont hear a nice loud ticking coming from inside the engine bay you should be fine.
When i did it i bent two pushrods, easy fix for me, unless you hear some odd new sounds or it runs odd i wouldnt worry about it.
Just dont make that mistake again

Did you hear it hit the rev limiter.....?
Also it still idles fines and no check engine light...?
There is lot's of possibile outcomes.... Valvetrain damage, hazing the clutch disc, blowing seals out of a/c compressors.....ect.
Just monitor your engine if it seems fine now.
Was the A/C on.....?Don't be afraid of the bottle!!! Be afraid of your tune!!!

The A/C was not on. No check engine light so far, its been about 4 days. What does the rev limiter sound like and do the manual 6sp have a rev limiter? Seems to be idileing fine. I has it smoged the other day (before I did this) and the guy at the smog shop said that my tach was about 300 rpms behind. So if my tach says 1,000 im actually at 1,300. How do I fix this, can it be recalibrated? Thanks again for all the help.

I've heard the stock tachs are usually off a couple hundred RPM, I would just buy an aftermarket one or remember it is under 300 RPM if you don't want a big tach in your car.
