Dropped Socket in Bell Housing!! Can I Drive?
Was unsuccessfully bleeding my clutch hydaulics and dropped a socket in the bell housing. Is it going to jam between the flywheel and the housing? I may need to go in to replace the slave anyway, but I'd like to drive it to a shop. Tow it, or drive it?

Have you tried removing the inspection cover? Maybe with a magnet and a little luck you can get it out.

Ah didn't know about an inspection cover. Looked in the manual and didn't see it. Is it obvious where it is?

Guys I looked and looked. Only possibility I saw for the Flywheel Housing Cover was a plastic cover around the starter. I took off the only small bolt but it didn't come off although it was loose. I pried it up and looked under and I didn't see into the bell housing so I don't think this is it. At the bottom of the housing there is no cover.
The manual talks about an inspection cover but never shows where it is.
Anybody actually take this thing off?
Thanks,
Jim

Pull the starter completely off and that panel will come out. The inspection "cover" is a shiny aluminum circle at the bottom of the bellhousing. It's about 2" across. There's also another plastic panel on the other side. I would first just try the inspection cover since it's so easy to get off. Just pry it off and get a telescoping pen magnet and run it back into the bellhousing and maybe you'll get ahold of the socket. Might not hurt to do it on a Sunday directly after praying extra hard in church.

Or just take the bellhousing off and let the socket fall out
