Driver Power Window
Hello I have just bought a 2000 Trans Am and noticed that the driver window will go all the way down but will not return all the wat up on the first push of te button. I read on previous posts that this is a problem on passenger side windows and occurs when the motor overheats and u have to wait several seconds and press the button again to make it work. I'm just wondering if all i need is a new motor just like the passenger side. And if it is can i just buy the motor at a store like Autozone? Thanks

I don't know how much Autozone will charge you for a part like that but I know that www.gmpartsdirect.com has the motor for $83, MSRP is like $160.
My driver side motor is pretty much shot; in the mornings it will go down about 6 inches and stop then it takes for ever to get it back up. The weird thing is that this doesn't happen all the time so I'm just going to order the motor and get rid of the problem.

Pewter- 2001/WS6
My car only has 26k miles but both windows are very slow both ways. Love the car but poor quality there...

Yeah, factory motor problem. Just replace the motors, that's what I'm going to do but only the driver side.

I hope the warranty is good. Those may be inported parts. I know that what gmpartsdirect.com sells is GM authorized parts so its OEM.

Motors are usually the culprit- but keep us in mind while replacing your window motor.

Autotrix, do you sell the motors? If so, for how much and do you warranty them? Thanks.

No we do not carry the window lift motors; we have thought about it and decided against it. Buying a window lift motor locally is by far the best method, because you can go and exchange it if there are any problems without paying for shipping and waiting for it to arrive.

that is a really good suggestion which im writting down myself, hes right GM will want about a 150 for the motor. if ure going to replace the motor i would also suggest replace the part that guides the glass, its a steel peice that goes across the window with a plastic peice that helps guide the window and keep it on track, trust me it sucks when they go and it sucks to see your entire window basically outta the door ready to fall and break.

ive heard people have had better luck with the "autozone" window motors over the OEM ones...
