    Door handle pin/spring popped out?

I opened my passenger door today in my 02 SS. the little metal pin [that acts like a spring to keep the door handle securely DOWN when you aren't pulling up on it to open the door] popped out from under the door handle. (outside door handle, just to be clear).

I can see where it's supposed to go by looking at the driver side.

My question is, how do i get it back in? Or will i have to take the door handle off to do so? Anyone else ever had this happen? weird!

    thanks!
