Difference between ls1 vette engine and ls1 f-body engine?
Is there any actual difference between the two?
I always hear the phrase 'that transam/camaro has a corvette engine' when talking about an ls1 powered car...
Are they not the same thing?
So technically you could say 'that corvette has a camaro/transam engine'

It's the same motor with some little differences...like no egr on the vettes even with a ls1 manifold...vettes have drive-by-wire..i think the lsa is different on the vette cam...true duals on the vette.
The LS1 is a vette motor because it was made for the vette and came out in 97 for the vettes...98 for fbods.

Slightly more aggressive tune to compensate for the better stock intake and exhaust.
Vette uses a Torque tube, transaxle, and a Torsen Diff.
F-bodies use a transmission, driveshaft, and solid rear axle with various diff types and gearing.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Your right but the transaxle is just a 4L60E with a slightly modified case. Everything I've heard about the vette/Camaro LS1's is that the complete engine itself is exactly the same save for the LS6 intake. Same cam LSA etc. The tune "might" be a little different but the main reason for the difference in HP rating is the Vette's dual exhaust and the FBod's "underrated". The only LS1 with a different cam was the GTO's.

Navy Blue Metallic- `98 Formula M6 HdTp
All 2001-2004 LS1's are identical doesn't matter what car they were in (F-body GTO Corvette) their only differnce is intake and exhaust plumbing for the differnt chassis and the Vette had ETC.
`97-99 Vettes are same as `98-`00 F-body LS1's except for ETC lack of EGR system and a different camshaft (the F-body cam has more lift but less overlap)
2000 Vettes got the same cam as the F-body but with a tighter lobe spread.Craig
