    Question cutting the shifter

Has anyone ever cut down their stock shifter? Any reason why it can't be done? What about a B&M ripper? I want to make it about 2 to 3 inches shorter.

I am sure you can. You just need to rethread the end for the knob to fit on. You could also cut and weld it.

I am thinking it would be pretty straight foward. Just remove, cut and rethread. wanted to know if anyone has ever done it and if they encountered any problems

You're not going to thread hardened steel

What did you use to rethread it? the only die I can find says for mild steel and the B&M is 303 stainless.

Here's the reason I may want to cut down my shift lever. My new pistol grip may be a little too long.
