Crank Position

I am trying to figure out where the Crankshalf Position Sensor is. I know that it is suppose to be by the starter on the Passenger side of the car. But i cant seem to see it. Does anyone have any pictures showing where this is at or help me find it. 99 Ls1 Trans Am

I think it is above the starter.

Pending the ability to post pics, the sensor is located directly above the starter at the very back of the engine block. Not sure about access with the starter in place.

yes throwing the low/high voltage, staring issues, sputting at some pionts while driving, and tacometer not working not sure if thats the sensor or not.

is it a lengthy process to take the starter off i know there are 2 bolts that hold it to the block but other then that?

Start by disconnecting the battery. There are two wires on studs that are retained by nuts -- the studs are up on the solenoid and face the front of the car. I want to say that they are 8mm and 12mm, maybe the larger one is 13mm. Anyway, remove the nuts and lock washers and carefully slide the wires off the studs. Then, with a 13mm socket, unbolt the starter from the back of the block. There are two bolts at the very back of the block that go in from the bottom, through the starter and into the block.

Never had one go bad before. I would think that you would be getting a code if it was defective.

Hope I'm in the right place , car has no spark , it will crank up run for 2-3 mins and cut off, then it just turns over . switched relays around ,all fuses are good, fuel pressure is good, this is an 02 trans am bone stock no aftermarket parts. I plugged in an obdll tester and the code readp0335, which is crank shaft position sensor. Gm said this would no cause my issue? Need help before I start tearing into this.

It's fairly easy to get to, located on the passenger side of the block, IIRC the CAT might need to be moved as well as the starter since you said you were stock, and has a 10mm bolt. I would also check the wire harness to make sure it didn't get melted from the headers.

I'm going yo get the sensor now and will start the replacement. I'll be sure to check the harness, I don't have headers but im willing to check everything, cause I'm carless right now. Will a sensor work then not work like that
