just bought a 2002 z28 and when i start it cold it has a slight knocking noise coming from the passanger side, it starts off kind of loud then quiets down after it warms up but doesn't actually go away, can anyone diagnose my problem? the car only has 66,000 miles on it

Piston slap?

Both of the aboev are common on the LS1... Lifter noise or the slapping piston. There was a service bulletin on the slap. But even when they were under warranty it was a PITA to get GM to honor that service bulletin.

thats just piston slap. 90%, if not all ls1 make that slapping noise on cold start ups. Quits after a min or 2. Nothing to worry about.
