    cold idle problems

    when the cars idling cold it has a slight tick and a little sqeak but once its warm it goes away what do you think the problem could be ? and theres no mods accept for exhaust

    normal issue with our LS1's.


    You'll get a ticking noise like you describe and after it warms up it should go away. However if the tick noise doesn't go away or gets louder then you need to see a mechanic.

    it goes away after warm but i was wondering if its possible to get a cold idle without that tick ? would a tune up help ?

    No tune will help


    Almost all of these cars that are in regions that get regular temps below 40* will get this.

    Some ppl have experimented with using different oil weights or in places like Alaska & Canada they use engine heaters so that they can prevent their fluids form freezing.

    I'm glad you said that Scott. My LS1 does that...it's been driving me crazy since I bought it a couple weeks ago. And you're right...goes away after she's warm. I wish there was something I could do about it....but if not, that's okay too. I love her- ticking and all. lol

    its funny cause i have the complete opposite...my car idles rough after its all the way warmed up. no ticking/squeaks or anything...

    clean maf, look for vacuum leaks.

    Is it a belt squeal? I know certain belts cause a squeal when cold/wet.

    It sounds normal. The tick is part of living with an LS1 and the squeak is from the belts until they warm up.
