    Code 1870

I just took my 98 Camaro into Autozone to have a code from the SES light pulled. They said it was "1870" which, when they looked it up on their computer was a "4X4 Transfer Case" code. Does anyone have any idea what this code is actually for?

P1870 is "Transmission Component Slipping" What does your fluid condition/level look like?

I think it's ok. I'm not entirely sure I checked it right. I let the car warm up a bit, then drove it around the parking lot several times. Parked, ran the shifter up and back through all the gears, left it in park, and checked the fluid. Is this right? How long should I let the car run before checking?

I called the local Chevy dealer today and got the "it could be the valve bodies or the clutch pack, we won't know till we open it up" and looking at $1,500-3K. I'm just trying to get everything squared away so that I can sell the car.

    Thanks for the help

Sounds like you checked it right, as long as it was up to temp. Sending you some more info.
