    Clutch, Throw Out Bearing, Etc

So the background on the issue.

Some few months ago-Ihad a wacked issue. It was driving fine-then at a stop sign I could not get it into 1st. I jammed it to get it in and then for that day and the next had some getting into gear issues. Weeks went by and no issues, then the latest is the following:

    1. When changing gears at low speed I dont hear it, only when at semi hard to high rpms I hear it. Its when I change gears and release the clutch I hear something that sounds like something is still spining either up and down ot just winding down.

    2. I am able to shift gears fine, all work great and the clutch seems to be holding since I can burn out in 1.3 gears as before and all things sound OK when shifting except for when I release at semi hi to hi rpms the clutch pedal.

(now several years ago I had a clutch job-after market one was installed along with the better GM hydralics package) so I dont think its the slave hydralics,) but....

IS it most likely the throw out bearing or oilot bearing.

A year ago I did over rev the motor and ent some rods and valves..I fixed them but my friend said that over revving a motor way higher then it normally goes can sometimes spin out the grease in the pilot and throw out bearing causing it to do just what I currently have as an issue...

    Help..opinions,,,etc

So...you have a transmission whine? Also sounds like you might have a bent shift fork if you have to force the car into gear. You also might want to check the rearend as they tend to whine as well. Keep us posted.

Its mostly likely the throwout bearing. But if you're going that far in to fix it, its not a bad idea to do the pilot bearing at the same time.

Ever since my friends at work and help on here got me thru the repairs on my heads (bent rods and valves, lapping them and sucking them,,ha ha)...so with no fear I shall dive into the gears...the tranny that is,,,
