clicking noise

I have a 1999 trans am when I start the car i hear a little clicking noise under the hood as soon as it warms up it stops. Is thius normal?

piston slap??? l guess this is a common problem on LS1s.. just warm the car up before you drive.. that way the car will last longer.. it is always better to warm the engine and then drive on any car..

is it a clicking, tapping, knocking? if it sounds almost like you have a diesel engine then it is just piston slap which is not a big deal, it is really common on 01-02s and is nothing to worry about.

My1998 ta did the same,my 2002 ws6 does it to,and a 2001ta i almost bought did it to. Ithink they all do it. i thought my 98 had to many hard miles,so i looked at the 2001 and didn't buy it for that reason.My 2002 does it to so i guess thay all do it.but i love my 2002 so i just let it run for a couple of minutes before leaving in the morning, that helps

Piston slap has never been a reason for an engine to live a shorter life-my does it and I'm not going to worry about it. My .02........
