Check engine light on every once in a while

My father in law has an 08 Chrysler Crossfire. I don't know much about crossfires, but e says that every once in a while his check engine light comes on. Is it a bad O2 sensor? He says he never lets the gas get too low, and I don't know how the gas cap is or did I look at it. Just wondering though.

You need to scan the codes when the light comes on. Any Autozone, Pep Boys, Advance, etc... can do it for free. Sounds like an emissions component that faults and then clears after so many starts.

Yeah, that is what I told him to do, but was trying to see if I could narrow it down to one or two issues....

Your best bet is to have the codes scanned although i would imagine its something simple like "loose gas cap".

If it was older, I would say O2's, cats, or something like the EGR (if it has one). Being an '08, like SSOSS said, probably something simple.

Cool I appreciate the feed back. I will let him know and I will ask him if he has EGR at all.
