How does a Z06 vary from our/your stock? Would it throw a code?

+1 ... but if you have a nice car that you want to make fast, you have to spend the $$ ... esp w/ our cars being "older" ... you're gonna be dropping money. it's the f-body lifestyle, my friend. do the free mods first, like Spaz suggested ... then do a lid/bellows and start beefing up the suspension.

You can get a new set of BMR tublar subframes for $139. I am sure one could find a second hand set for under $100.

Dude, I'm new here, but are you saying you got a new air lid but did NOT do the free ram air mod? Why buy the lid then? Doesn't make sense.

Go out to the garage right now and punch out the bottom of your air box!

The restriction is in the baffle built into the stock lid that creates turbulence to slow the air velocity going to the maf. You see a gain in just the lid, and if you really wanted to make that "ram air" more effective you would take weather stripping and seal off where the air originally came from to maintain air velocity coming through.

Been wanting to say this for a while
Has anyone taken the stock lid and snapped off the baffles and sanded it smooth? i know its not as good as a lid but its better than not having one. Did this to my buddy's Z before he got a lid. Just took some pliers and snapped them right off.

I disagree with doing this more and more as the years go by. I did it way back when and it gets the filter dirty as hell in no time flat. One of these days I'm going to fix mine. I'm guessing there's very little to be gained there anyhow. I've also wondered what the IAT differences would be. When I do fix it ( next spring) I'm going to log it before and after and watch the IAT's to see what they do.
