You have to hold the trip odometer button down for about 15 seconds. The oil change light will flash when it's ready, then you're good to go.

turn the ignition to the on position (but don't start the car) and hold down the trip set. the oil change light has no sensor in the oil its a computer thing that is tripped by the counting of the revolutions of the motor. its in the owners manual . you could have Crisco in the motor and it wouldn't trip the oil change light .

This.. But the change oil light is a little more complex than that.. It's more based on driving conditions than revs alone.. Just my.02

You can also turn the ignition to "on" and push the accelerator down 3 times and that will reset the light. You don't zero out the trip odometer that way either.

I've heard that, but it doesn't work on my car. Only way I can do it is with the trip button

x2 on that, the gas pedal method works on my 04 Tahoe though.

Yeah can't do it that way on the 01 3800 either.. Have to use the trip button, with the key in the "run" possition, and the engine not running.. Hold the botton till the light flashes and goes out.. I believe the gas peddle thing works for the GTO..iirc too
