Catalytic converter warranty is?
My Engine light is on and i got it checked out today, and it turns out it came from my catalytic converter. They told me that Catalytic converters have an 8 year warranty or up to 80,000 miles is this true? if so then i should be getting a free catalytic converter when i go to the dealer? (in case your wondering i have a 2000 WS6 with 48,000 miles)

Federal emissions warranty is 8 yrs/80K - GM extended the cat warranty in December '06 to 10 yrs/120K on the '00-'02 F cars.

Yep, my cats were covered on the 2000 fbody I also have; the dealer said they "forgot about the warranty" until I brought it to their attention. If I hadn't said anything, they were going to charge me for the new cats & labor (bastards). After they realized I knew they were trying to screw me, they replaced them for free.

Cats are under warranty forever. I've yet to see a dealer not replace them for free....I dunno what the "official" warranty is....but man I've seen folks with 150K get em exchanged for free....

Navy Blue Metallic- '00 Formy A4
Yup. Just got mine replaced last week. At first they wouldn't cover it since the car was over the 8 year limit by one month, but I told the service manager to check again, as I was pretty sure the warranty was extended to 10 years. He checked, and sure enough, it was covered for ten years, 120k.
I wonder how many people they charged for cats that shuld have gotten them free?

Thanks for the heads up on this. I took my 2002 Z28 in this week to the dealer with a P0430 code and they confirmed it was the passenger side catalytic converter.
I was just over the 130,000 kms for the emissions warranty and was quoted a total price of around $1000 (CDN$) to have it replaced. I mentioned the service bulletin and the extended warranty (up to 193,000 kms) and they confirmed it was covered:
"#05513: Special Coverage Adjustment - Catalytic Converter Extended Warranty - (Nov 27, 2006)"
I had another converter replaced in the first year or two of the original factory warranty, I don't recall if it was the same one or perhaps it was the driver side that time.
