sounds like an electrical issue. my guess is something is going strange when the brake pedal triggers the brake lights. i actually had a similar problem with my camaro. i would honk using the right button on the steering wheel (left button was fine) and the car would turn off. being a manual trans and driving when i usually honked the horn, the car would restart itself. it turned out a ground wire for the aftermarket alarm wasnt hooked up correctly.

Silver- 2000 Camaro SS
im gonna say an electrical problem also. idk what, and im not a pro, but i have experienced some wierd things, and the ones that really dont make much sense are usually some sort of sensor in your car that has gone bad that you dont know about (for me, it was the neutral safety switch) or electrical problems.

Its a short somewhere near the computer. A wire going to the brakes is worn through and whjen power goes through it, it grounds out the whole computer. If the short were further down it would blow a fuse or just your brake lights not work. Do they actually light up?

I'm having a similar problem....i just got my car back from the shop, got a LS7 clutch installed. Now i'm getting a clutch switch circuit malfunction code, and sometimes my car will just shut down, and the computer, clock, etc. will reset. Sometimes i have to wait to even be able to lock my car after this happens, all i hear are like relay click noises on the passenger side.......and since i got my car back my cruise control doesn't work...must be the clutch switch for that, but would that cause the other problems as well??? Any input would help, thanks.

Black- 98 Camaro Z28
Interesting...I have had a similar issue from day 1 with my 98 Z28. When it's cold out and during the first few minutes only when I decelerate, say to a light or stop sign, the car will shut off once and only once. With it being a manual it just picks up where it left off and wont happen again until the next cold cycle. Its obviously a heat issue but no codes are thrown and the dealer looks at me like I'm retarded, not saying I'm not, and didn't help.
Anyone experienced that? Any ideas? Only patter I can notice is I am decelerating. Not necessarily on the brakes just letting the car slow itself. When it dies the car jerks, all the light flash (if at night) and then all is well.
Thoughts?

does it have a remote start or anything aftermarket installed? Maybe someone f-d up the wiring?
I have a remote start on my truck, and if you forget to put the key in before you put the brake on to put it in gear (auto) then it will shut off.. just wondering if you maybe had something like that but someone didn't wire it correctly?

check the fuel pump ground. I made a "bug" at tech school that did this exact thing. we removed the ground for the fuel pump and the circuit would backfeed to ground through the brake light circuit. the car would start and run, but would die as soon as the brakes were hit. The car we did was a 2001 cavalier. its probably got similar wiring for the fuel pump.
