    Car running horrible

The other day my car (98 LS1) started running horribly, will idle fine when you first turn it on, but when you start driving it will stutter, pop, and when using the brakes it will try to stall out if you don't give it gas. The best way I can describe it is an LT1 that has had a bucket of water poured on the optispark, lol.

I really don't know much about cars but I think it could be ignition related?

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

have you done anything out of the ordinary with it like use different gas or has the weather dropped 40 degrees?

That sounds like the problems I was having when my power coil died

If it's running that bad it should be setting a code.....have you checked?

you can also disconnect the battery and wait a little and then re connect it again incase something simple is messed up. it almost sounds like a vacuum problem.

If the problem comes and goes, it sounds like when my catalitic converter broke apart on my Camaro.

I have another scenario if those weren't enough. It sounds to me like it's idling fine in open loop (when it's first started) then goes south when it gets warm ( closed loop). It sounds like it could also be your coolant temp sensor. Is your temp gauge doing anything funny? It could also be an O2 problem but I would think a code would show up if an O2 was that bad off. Just something to check.

OK So a follow up to this thread, I took it to the shop, they replaced my 02 sensor and it ran fine no matter how much moisture was outside. Yesterday since it snowed it has started doing it again!

This crap is driving my absolutely nuts

if an a4 possible converter is bad, runs fine setting still try to move and it shutters. just a thought, but if O2 fixed it before you already know the problem is related to that.
