Car Overheating To Redline
Okay guys I gotta problem that needs to be addressed ASAP! A couple days ago my car had trouble starting up and I figured it was the battery. So I take it to Kragen and have them test it out and in fact it was a bad battery. I didn't purchase the battery from Kragens cause they don't carry AC Delco. So I start driving to Autozone and I look down at my cluster gauge and the needle is slowly creeping to like the 250 degree mark. I pulled over immediatly and let the car cool off and started her up again and this time the car didn't overheat. Could the overheating have been caused by a bad battery becasue this never happened before.

It might have just had a moment. How long did you let it cool off for? The battery shouldnt cause the temp guage to move. Once you shut it off did it boil or smoke any?
Check to ensure you plenty of coolant in the car.

I don't think it was just a one time thing becasue if I'm at a stop too long the temp. starts to creep past the 210 mark into like the 230's. Thats when I put the heat on blast which brought the car back to normal temp. The fans do work, I'm not sure how to check the thermostat to see if it's stuck or not and the coolant level appears to be fine.

If your sure your fans are coming on then have your rad cap pressure checked and it may be time to replace your thermostat. Simple task and not too expensive.

You will pay about 25 bucks for the thermostat and housing. Its comes as one. It will take less than an hour for you to complete.
Its just a hose clamp, and if i remember correctly only two bolts.
