I hope they install an expresso machine in your car for that price too. Damn, for parts and labor, that is WAY TOO much I think. So, parts, cam swap, and new valvetrain I think shouldn't be over $1.7K. Parts shouldn't be more than $1000, then install...well, just for a header install, I was quoted $500, so maybe a $1000 or so install...I don't know. All I know is $3K is too much. Maybe $2K is more reasonable, but I wouldn't pay 3 unless it was for a new fully built enigne.

I think I've heard of people getting it done for $1200 for the actual install/tune plus parts. It really depends on the labor rate the shop uses and how many hours they allocate for the job. Someone who works on LS1's regularly should be able to do a cam swap in ~6 hours or less. They can drop the k-member with the car on the lift in a couple hours, do the swap in a couple hours, and bolt it back up in a couple hours. Assuming they charge an $80/hour rate, the labor part of the swap should be $480. Build in a little cushion, plus your time on the dyno & tuning....$1200 sounds very fair to me. If you're going to do that, you should have them throw some poly motor mounts on as well. Nothing worse than a y-pipe banging the floor after an install.

Paid 1400 for everything you mentioned including the labor and dyno tune. It was a cam special offered by a sponser a while ago. Just wait for a sponser to post up a special. Was this by a local speed shop or a ls1 shop?
