    i believe that indicator tells you that you have enough charge in it. This will not tell you if the battery will hold charge for a long time. The only way you are going to find out is to try it. 3 1/2 yrs is close to the life of the battery. I will say test it out and if it fails again replace it. But i have to agree that the current battery is getting old and it is not a bad idea to replace it.

    has anyone stated to check the charging system as well once the battery is replaced and check for a battery draw???

    This has crossed my mind. The needle on the voltmeter on the dashboard is the thickness of the needle past the 3 quarter mark, does this mean the charging system working properly?

    Do you have a volt meter? if so then check the voltage at the battery when the car is running and it should be above 13.8volts at least
