    Caliper Bracket Bolt

Lost one of mine, and can't find where to find another one. Not the bolts that hold the caliper itself on. But the bolts that hold the mounting bracket itself on to the car.

    GM.

Or you can take the other bolt to a Home Depot or something.
Personally...I would go GM for that kinda bolt.

I had to buy one last summer from a dealership. I don't remember the price but it was cheap.....well, by dealership standards.

I'm thinking matching the other one with a grade 8 bolt should work.

Like Mr. Luos said. Go to your local GM Dealership Parts Department and get the proper bolt. The proper bolt is made to withstand the stress on the brakes. It will make a much safer package for you and those that may be around you.

The bolt is an M12 x 1.75 x I forget how long, it is also Grade 12.9

Not something you're going to easily find but a specialty hardware store may have one even though they'll probably want as much or more than a dealer would.

Does anyone know a part number or something on it? Ive talked to Pontiac..and they seem to think there are 4 bolts that hold the bracket on...I didn't think it would be this hard. They are supposed to be sending me a schematic, but im yet to see it come out the fax machine.

No, there's only two large bolts that hold the caliper bracket to the steering knuckle, there are also two smaller bolts that hold the caliper pins on and those are easy to find.

Seriously, call around and find some place that has M12 x 1.75 bolts in Grade 12.9 . Take one of the ones you have left and measure how long it is, if I recall about 2-1/2" which would be around 60 mm. The bolt can be longer but not shorter than what's on there.

I think I know where I might be able to find the GM part # but it'll take a bit of time.

Thought for sure the part # would be in here somewhere but it isn't. My company was involved in coming up with this upgrade:

    http://www.clubgp.com/newforum/tm.as...mode=1&smode=1

Somewhere over in that forum is a writeup for the "sleeve method" that does include the part # of the caliper bolt you're looking for, I just can't find it.

    I've rethreaded a ton of those 98-02 LS1 calipers, M12 x 1.75 I'm almost positive about. M11 x 1.5 may be for the V6 models?

If a dealer is too hard to find most salvage yards have an LS1 sitting around and surely wouldn't want but $1 for one of the proper bolts. I know these guys would be glad to be of help, they've got tons of them:
