    Theres two reasons,
First: When the Z06 rims came out they were staggered fit on the Vettes so they were easier to find 17's for the front and 18's for the rear.
Second: with the 18" out back you can run a wider tire, the 17's are 17x9.5 and the rears are 18x 10.5" or 11", more rubber out back means you will get better traction...

I have c6 zo6 rims on my car. The size on my car is 17x8.5 with 245's up front and back are 17x9.5 and I have 315's in the rear.... so I could put a fat tire on my car in the 9.5's... will it make a difference if a 315 is on a 9.5 rim instead of a 10.5 rim? Like will it have more tire touching the floor?

I dont think they will. Put 315's in the rear you'll be very happy if you do...
