Buying WHAT??
Hello
I maked a decision: I will import (yes import... i live in SWITZERLAND, Europe ) a LS1 powered T/A WS6 with T-TOPS in black, blue or silver and M6.
But now i have to make a other decision:
My budget isn't great. Maximum i can spend for this car is 16000USD! HIGHEST! I think 14'000USD are better... but know what would you guys advice me?
Shall i buy a 98-2000 or a 2001-2002 T/A WS6 because of the LS6 intake? Is the higher price OK for the LS6 or shall i buy a 98-2000 and install a (for example) K&N Air Intake? Will that produce same or more HP (as long as a LS6 will produce more HP... i dunno ) than a LS6?
And what is the highest mileage i shall go? I thought on maximum 70'000miles. Better something around 50'000miles... but the prices.
I saw some WS6 for 12000-13000USD on www.autotrader.com what really sounds good because than i will put the 2000USD i saved in a exhaust & intake.
Oh and i MUST buy a STOCK T/A WS6 because of "legalizing" here in my country... but after this i can put on whatever i will. ^^
Can you help my guys? =)
Thanks a lot!

an ls1 is an ls1 for the most part. I would look for a 98-2000 with decent miles and save some money. Once you start to modify the car, just make sure to get an ls6 intake for it if its that important to you. Good luck with your goals.

Thanks! =)
It's not that importent... i'm just wondering if a LS6 produces more HP or will a other brand intake produce more and so i can donate the LS6. =)

a ls6 intake manifold makes about 8 extra hp then a ls1 intake manifold. But if you add a cam too you see a hp increase of 20hp when you add a ls6 intake manifold. thats atleast what I heard.

I'm you are going to mod, then what it has stock sgould be of little concern to you. Get a 98-00 if thats what your budget allows for. Later LS1's do have better flowing LS6 intake manifolds and redesigned exhaust manifolds that make HP stock (10-15).
You can always put on an LSX manifold with a huge 90mm throttle body and the full length headers of your choice that will make far better power than any stock LS1 of any year.
Congrats & Good Luck to you.Hammer - hammertime.us

OK! Thanks very much! So i know that i make no sense spend more money to a 01-02 T/A WS6 when i will mod the car anyway! You helped me a lot!!!! =D So it is the fact why 01-02 produces 345HP?? LS6 & exhaust?
Little question: Where can i get a LS6 intake?Last edited by H8machine; 12-29-2005 at 09:09 PM.

You are gonna OWN every car in your country, I'm proud of you. What kind of taxes or customs fees or whatever do you have to pay to do this?

I'm a LITTLE bit confused what you are writing... :-S
OK, here the T/A is a import car but the hell what one! I owned a 96 Impala SS this summer, drive my second Beretta GTZ and my first car was a 91 LeBaron GTC. I only drive with the american way!
What i have to pay for import is following:
Transport & payment of duty: ~3500USD
Approval: 600-1500USD
Car: Maximum 15000USD
So maybe i have to pay 20'000USD for a car. =( But the next one here i can own is a 97 T/A WS6 (LT1) for around 24000USD or a 98 WS6 (but a shitty Auto) for 27'000USD. You see it's cheaper to get a import from US then buy one here... IF i find one.

You can find a ls6 intake manifold from members on here from a 01 or 02 vehicle. But you won't have the EGR inlet. SLP makes one that directly bolts on and comes with everything needed. Including the EGR inlet. But a lot of people just end up removing the EGR.

That obviously make sense. Why would they post something is faster for $20,000 less. I really think the vette is just a name and quality. You can find other things out there for cheaper just as fast. Theres always exceptions of course. Like if you get a z06 hehe.
