    Buying a higher mileage LS1?

I'm currently looking around for a LS1 car for a DD.

Obviously I'd like to buy the lowest mileage car I can afford, but it seems that alot of the cars in my price range have higher mileage; after all, the newest one is five years old already.

I have a 60 mile round trip to work, I put on about 18-20k a year.

Now if I were to buy a LS1 with 60,70, or even 80k on it, how long could I expect it to last before I start having problems?

Or should I just stay away from anything over 50k, which is the limit I've set for myself right now.

And how is M6 vs A4 for reliability? I haven't driven a stick in about 7 years, I'm afraid I'll kill the clutch in a month.

I've seen a few online that interest me:
    '00 SS w/37k for 14k,(A4)
    '00 SS w/67k for 11.5k (A4)
    '98 Formy w/79k for 8k (A4)
    '99 T/A w/62k for 11k (M6)
    '00 Formy w/50k for 11k (A4)

I'm a fan of Formulas, but the two I like most are the T/A and the low mileage SS, although I'd rather pay 13k for it. I think 14k is a bit much.

Thanks for any info or opinions!

Bought my 99 T/A bout a year and a half ago with 97,000 on it. I travel 50+ miles a day back and forth to work. Couldn't ask for a better car. It's strong as hell, i wouldn't give it up for a new car. T/A's rock........nuff said.

145k and was doing fine and mine has been rode hard and put away wet driving 55 miles one way to work with A4. Not a single car induced hiccup.

The M6 is a great trans. They hold power better than the A4 once you start modding. The only big weak part is the M6 in '98-'00 cars have a slave cylinder that might shit out if its original. The slave was redesigned for '01-'02 cars. Its only like $100 part - so no big expense - just need to pul the trans. But if the car already had it replaced with the newer model then you are good to go!

    And if you get a M6 - get a pro 5.0 shifter

Well that's really good to know.

Thanks for all the replies, it definitely makes me feel better about mileage.
