Navy Blue- 2000 Firebird
Buckin, Idlein, cars makin me angry!
This has been an ongoing issue for a little over a month and I'm getting stumped.
About a month ago I had a clogged cat, the car stank and bucking horribly. I went the local muffler shop and they ran a straight pipe. Problem solved....For about 2 days. All of a sudden my car started bucking between 1000 and 2000rpm. Im not getting any check engine lights so no help there.
Ive replaced the 02 sensors in the front, shut off the o2's in the back, replaced the plugs, plug wires, cleaned the MAF, and replaced the fuel filter.
I did notice an improvement in gas mileage and reduced the bucking about 80% after I replaced the fuel filter.
Now the car runs great when its cold. After about 10 minutes, it bucks every once in a while...Just enough to make you angry. When I stomp on the gas, I get good response but the car bounces and acts like I have an unbalanced tire.
Now I get a new symptom....rough idle. The rpm's stay at about 500 or 600 when ilding but the car gets fairly shaky and last night in the drive through it started knocking. It didnt sound like engine knock but more like an exaust issue. Once i stepped on the gas a little the knock went away.
I havent checked injectors yet.
Any ideas?

Any mods? You said that you ran a straight pipe in place of the cat, Im guessin you means Cats... Check your fuel pressure at the rail. What were your plugs gapped at? May want to find someone that can log live data and take a look at everything that is going on.
Could also be a stuck or leaking injector.

I probably have no choice but to take it in tomorrow. No mods, just the pipe. Tonight I lost at least 50% power and the car was chuggin and barely moving. This is really scary horrible. damn car.

you try doing a hard reset on the cars computer. disconnect the battery for an hour see what that does.
