    ain't that the truth.

Back in 92' I had built a 454 for my truck that ended up getting sold (my truck was wrecked prior to install) to this guy that threw it in a 70's Nova SS. He invites me to the track a few weeks later. He made a pass that I was blown away on how strong it ran. When he pulls up to the pit it sounded awful. He lifts the hood and shows me the 300 shot of N2O he installed. I had asked if he did anything to the engine for the N2O and he said nope not a thing. I checked his tach and it maxed out close to 9,000 rpms on the last pull. The cam wasn't spec for that let alone the engine wasn't built to handle N2O.

I told him not to run it again till he checked it over. He goes again and blew it up in spectacular fashion and also got banned from the track for having the crank dig a 6' grove. It split the block in 3 pieces with the intake manifold coming through the hood.

It's one of the reason I'm skitish about using N2O. I know it's gotten better and safer to run then back then.
