    Brakes question

Wasn't sure which section, close enough :P

Ok, I'm bringing back out the bird soon, it's the first full year I've had it, the car has 4Kmiles on it since 2001.

I can tell the rotors are toast, question is, when I replace the rotors should I replace the pads, or do they deteriate too?

Money's not a big issue, just dont like pissing away money either.

First offm how do you know they are toast? If you replace the rotors toss on some new pads, they are pretty cheap and the will wear in better to the new rotors.

I didn't change my ceramic pads when I changed the rotors recently; if there is still a lot of pad there, why change? Even new pads have to wear a bit.

i would change the pad's b/c rust is realy hard if the pads have rust on then is could dig in to the new rotors, but it would not be a big deal. if your going to replace the rotors i would get some power slots they are realy nice and they help a lot

I had some power slots before on 2 cars, I didnt like them, the brake response wasn't great and they started mirroring.

I'll stay with a stock set-up unless I go for really high-end stuff.

I gotta agree. If you are buying new rotors anyway.. buy some quality aftermarket ones. My stock rotors warped; that's why I got new aftermarket rotors.. much nicer and no more violent shake on braking.

Yea I'd go GM for sure. I've been through the aftermarket ones(local stores) and they're just garbage chinese ones repackaged as high performance.

    I'd go GM or High-end.

I'll be in the market for new rotors soon, too. Any suggestions on some good quality brands?
