Body Flex
I have s 2000 TA, WS6, Ram Air. Can anyone tell me what sounds the body make when it flexes. I know I need to get SFC installed but I am wondering if the sounds my car makes is the body flexing. It only does it at dead stop takeoff. It does not do it when I am doing 20-30-40 and kick, only at dead stop and kick. I hear a poping sound coming from about the center of the car. I have checked the rear end, Transmission, Driveshaft, u joints and front end but I cant seem to find anything wrong.

My life is a- Ben Stiller movie.
how about the tq arm? if your kickin' at launch that's gotta be tq arm.

I have replaced both the rear tq arms, Sway Bars and the panhard bar with aftermarket ones from BMR. I also went through and greased all of them.

do you have aftermarket exhaust? sometimes the exhaust will rub theunder body on hard accelleration.

Yes, I have flowmaster catback with a custom y-pipe but the exhaust has been checked.

To answer your question -the body flex can be heard in various parts of the car.In my car only thing I hear is the t-tops sometimes going over rough pavement.I would think the popping sound is not from body flex but from drivetrain or suspension as you have already been told.If you have poly bushings in some of the aftermarket stuff I would be very suspious of this as they are notorious for making noises. As far as the exhaust goes you need to look closely at the clearances around the pipes-aftermarket exhaust doesnt always have enough room around it for every possible situation-it's bigger in diameter and wasnt made by GM.Torque arm is the likely culprit-however sometimes a problem has to get worse before it can be found and that may very well be the case.Get out and get under it on a regular basis and keep looking, you'll figure it out before somebody else will.

I finally just took the car to a local shop to have it checked out. I found out it was the Y-Pipe rubbing against the underside of the body. When I get on it, the engine would torque and make the driver side Y-Pipe hit under the car. I just have to take it back to the Muffler shop and have them weld on a brace. Thanks to all who responded.

Glad you found it. It sounded like an exhaust pipe issue while I just read this thread. That is somewhat common on our cars with aftermarket exhausts.
