    bloody temperature gauge

okay...i can't be the only person that is bothered by the temperature gauge in the 4th gens can i?

i can't stand how the thing just goes up to and sits at about halfway even when the engine is cold. i'd like to actually know what the temp of my vehicle is.

is there any way to make the gauge in the car read the actual temp instead of the bogus fake temp?

I hate mine too - what do you mean by halfway even when cold? Shouldn't do that if you talking about just under 210. First mark on mine with a scanner is 142*. No fix that I'm aware of, except for an aftermarket gauge.

the gauges only let you know if your car is overheating. it does not give you an accurate indication of your true coolant temp. It will still be pegged at 210 even when you are only at 170 degrees.

You can watch a 98s guage and see when the thermostat opens!

so is this something that happened with a change of a PCM for the '99 model year or a different tune on the PCM or what? cause i'm certain that the temp sensor sends the correct reading to the PCM and the PCM decides what to send to the gauge. would it be a possibility to tune the PCM for a proper gauge reading?

It was my inderstanding that some customers complained about their Temp gauges moving too much so in `99 they basically made them less sensitive.
The gauge on my`94 and my `98 both worked.
