Black fuel. What does this mean??

Well today i changed my fuel filter with a new Wix fuel filter. The old one was installed by me when i first bought the car, it had about 9,000 miles on it. It was the cheap 6 dollar brand from O'reillys. I put my new Wix on and everything went fine. Before i threw the old one away though i dump some of the fuel on my hand, and it was all black! I have no idea what this could be, anyone seen this before?

common normal, a fuel filter filters out particles that you dont want to end up on your injectors.

Thats kinda what i was thinking but when i turned it over to check black fuel was coming out of the filtered side. Maybe the filter was just breaking down? It was a cheaper brand.

yes when they get old all that accumilated dust, dirts etc start changing colors. then if not changed they go right to your injectors.

Yes it's normal debris in your tank and the wonderful gas stations tanks that get's shared with your when they rape you at the pump.

I've changed a lot of fuel filters, and the ones that have been on there for longer than they should have been , are the ones that dump black fuel like that.

You need to change your filter more often/sooner.
